Description:

Follow-Up Workshop: Establishing a Polar Archive Network and Proposal Development for
a SCAR Action Group
Building upon the groundwork laid at the March workshop hosted at the Scott Polar Research Institute (SPRI) in Cambridge, this session will focus on refining the draft proposal and furthering collaborative efforts to develop a robust, sustainable network of archives dedicated to polar research in the social sciences and humanities. This initiative is being developed under the auspices of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR), specifically through the Standing Committee on the Social Sciences and Humanities (SC-HASS) and the Standing Committee on Data Management (SCADM).

Key Workshop Goals:

  1. Identify existing polar archives relevant to the social sciences and humanities.
  2. Refine and discuss the draft proposal for the creation of a SCAR Action Group on
    polar archives.
  3. Develop a management plan for an integrated and sustainable polar archive
    network.

We welcome all interested in the humanities and social sciences; researchers, archivists, data managers, and community members engaged in polar data stewardship to join this important conversation.
